As part of the Go Red for Women campaign, the Singapore Heart Foundation partnered with ITE College West for “United Hearts, One Cause”, a public awareness event focused on women’s heart health. Graced by Rahayu Mahzam, the event brought together students and staff through a series of interactive activities and educational experiences designed to encourage greater awareness of heart attack symptoms and early action.

The project focused on the design and fabrication of a custom event backdrop featuring illuminated heart installations embedded directly into the structure. Each heart represented a key warning sign through bold typography, lighting, and layered visuals, turning educational content into an interactive exhibition display rather than a standard informational panel. The clean architectural layout helped organise the messaging clearly while creating stronger visual impact within the event space.

Through the use of cardboard, the installation explored how lightweight materials can still create scale, depth, and emotional presence within an event environment. The recessed display windows, dimensional heart elements, and integrated lighting added contrast and focus while keeping the structure visually clean and approachable. More than just an event backdrop, the design transformed awareness messaging into a physical experience, encouraging visitors to engage more closely with the conversation around heart health.
